Hamilton City Council has been granted a Film Friendly Status by Local Government New Zealand. We welcome filming in our city. Filming even on a small scale brings diversity, life and energy to our city, which is great but must also be balanced with the safety and comfort of our community.
Depending on the scale of your filming event you might require Council permission for access to areas or permits, etc. In our role as Council we will help in anyway to make your filming a safe, successful event, however, as the organiser you are ultimately responsible for the event in all aspects.
Special note: When filming any scenes that include depictions of illegal activities, battle scenes, special effects like explosions, crowd scenes or other activities that might cause concern by members of the public Hamilton Police need to be consulted. Please note under section 13 of the Arms Act, the law provides clear guidelines for the use of theatrical use of weapons. |
