Rewards
People will really get behind initiatives if the incentives or rewards are relevant or desirable. Food rewards are not recommended; part of the idea behind sustainable and active modes is that behavioural and attitude change is made in a healthy way.
Council has resources for children that can be used as incentives, such as active modes clip cards (see below). Every 50 clips they receive a 'collectable'.

Over each term, your school could set further targets for the children to achieve, and reward them in the final week of term. There are 10 possible trips to be made each week, making a target of 100 active or sustainable trips for the term.
Examples of rewards that could be used:
- Leadership Role
- Stationery
- Principal for the day
- Mentioned by name in the School Travel Plan Newsletter
- Certificates of participation
- Recognition of target number achieved.
