Sustainable and Well-Planned 1.4 - Protects and enhances its green spaces and natural environment for everyone to value and enjoy. |
Objective
To ensure that residents take responsibility for mowing the grass verge on the road reserve adjacent to their property.
Policy
Council expects that owners or residents of properties fronting onto urban roads will mow the adjacent grass verges.
Council will mow such verges only where:
- Because of features such as excessive size or contour it is unreasonable for the property owner to mow. In this context, a frontage exceeding 200m2 is considered reasonable for Council to take responsibility for mowing.
- The property owner or resident does not carry out the mowing. In these cases, mowing frequency is to be restricted to not more than 4 times per year.
