Exercise Areas
Council has set aside 'designated dog exercise areas' within some parks in the city. Dog owners can exercise their dogs within these areas unleashed, and must:
- Keep the dog under direct control at all times
- Remain in the designated dog exercise area with their dog
- Pick up doggy doo's and place them in a rubbish bin.
Trial Exercise Areas
Council is conducting a trial of extended dog exercise areas on Days’ and Resthills Parks, Porritt Stadium and Till’s Lookout for a period of one year. Refer to the dog exercise area maps (see below) of each of these parks for more information on the extent and access times of the trail areas. The trial will end on 31 July 2011.
Exclusion Areas
Dogs are prohibited from the following parks:
- Hamilton Gardens - enclosed sector
- Hamilton Lake Domain - picnic lawn in front of The Verandah and the children's playground
- Within 10 metres of any children's playground in any public park.
