Happy Tails

This page is dedicated to all the dogs who have been given a second chance and to the wonderful people that adopted them.

Happy tails Roxy in car

Roxy

Over the last four weeks I've settled in really well in my new home and even made friends with the cat....(little does she know that I occasionally do what almost all dogs do - sneak over and sample some moggy food).

I enjoy drives in the car, even if the car is just being cleaned, it's great being part of the action. I recently went with one of my human companions to work on 'take your dog to work day' - bravely rode my first lift and all the fuss and pats were wonderful!

I also enjoy walks around the lake, runs at Tills Lookout and meeting other doggie friends at the dog wash out TeRapa way. Looking forward to dog agility classes at the end of the month...more socialising and girl has to keep trim and good looking.

Happy tails Miley

Miley

Miley is learning to be a real terrier and going for walks in the rain and having her own basket by the window so she can see what's going on. She's a great hit with her new owners' grandchildren and friends. She has learnt not to jump on the bed or sofa and to toilet outside, she is also learning to 'heel' while out walking - but hasn't quite got the hang of that yet!

Her owner says she has a lovely nature and seems to love life, and thankyou for her new friend.

Mojo

Mojo the pomeranian has settled in well to his new home and is inseparable from the other 2 dogs - Rylee (pomeranian) and Maz (Staffy). They spend their days lazing on mums bed, running around the paddocks chasing balls and snuggling up together on the couch.

His new owners are so pleased that they were able to give Mojo a new home where he will be forever.

(having trouble with the photo - will try and add later!)

Happy Tails Ruby sleeping

Ruby

Ruby has finally had some luck in her young life, after being adopted and returned twice (through no fault of her own) she has now found a perfect forever home. She has moved to Auckland and is very happy - she goes for lots of walks to exciting places, has made new doggy friends, gets to sleep on the bed, her training is going super and she is very much adored by her new owners.

Happy Tails Rocky & Mozzi

Rocky and Mozzi

Both of these lucky boys were given a second chance. Rocky (staffy) first and then back they came a few months later and chose Mozzi (foxy) to keep him company. Rocky and Mozzi get along great and enjoy their new lives.

Happy Tails Manny

Manny

Manny is a very high energy dog so loves living on a lifestyle block and doing a whole bunch of cool activities like learning flyball, going for heaps of walks, lots of car rides, long runs beside the bike, and might even be getting trained for sled racing when he is bit older.

Happy Tails Patrick and Romeo

Patrick and Tutu (Romeo)

We have lots of fun on our big country property with our nice new family. We have doggy friends that come to visit and play with us all the time, and we love going for rides in the car - we've been all over the place and it's great.

Floyd

Floyd

Floyd is loving his new life and is lucky enough to have recently moved out to the country where he has lots of room to run around. He shares 'his' lifestyle block with the goat, the cat, the rabbit, some bantams, his best friend Bonnie the Collie X and his humans.

Happy Tails Gypsy

Gypsy

Gypsy the samoyed is very happy with his new home and is now looking very handsome. He was at Animal Control for quite some time before a lovely couple from New Plymouth heard about him through Samoyed Rescue and drove all the way up here just to see him - and then took him back home with them the same day!

Happy Tails Luna

Luna

Luna is happy and doing well in her new home. She loves walks, playing with the kids and is adjusting well.

Happy Tails Zac Power

Zac Power

I have been re-named Zac Power (from the books). I just get called Zac though, and the kids said that Power can be my middle name.  I have a big garden to run around which is neat. The kids think I'm great and play ball with me, take me for walks on my red lead and they like to give me breakfast/dinner in my new bowl.

Happy tails OB
Happy Tails Jed

OB

OB was adopted recently and now enjoys life in the country racing round the house with his new playmate Jed. He loves sitting by his new mum in the kitchen hoping she falls for his puppy dog eyes.

Jed

Also adopted from Animal Control a few years ago. Jed shares his country home with his little brother OB, some sheep, some chickens and even some humans!

Happy Tails Saffie and Roxy

Saffie and Roxy

Saffie (on the left) was recently adopted. While her owners were at the centre they spotted Roxy and one week later they had to adopted her. The two are now inseparable.

Happy tails Bosco

Bosco

Is enjoying his new home where he has started doing agility. He had his first show recently and got a clear round.

Happy tails Ozzie

Ozzie

Recently adopted has enjoyed his first Holloween with his new family dressing up as a cat. He has also started training and all is going well.

Happy Tail Ricky

Ricky

On the left has joined his new family of two other Maremma Sheepdogs in Levin. He enjoys racing around the house with his new best friend Magic.

Seasha

Has settled in to her new home well and is loved by the whole neighbour hood. Seasha sleeps on her back with her feet in the air and keeps her new family entertained.

Bilbo and Rebel

Bilbo (on the right of the photo) was recently adopted, but needed a friend. So back came his mum and dad to adopt Rebel. Both dogs hit it off as soon as they met and will be friends forever.

Magic

Magic recently adopted is chilling out with his new friend Kyle. He loves his new home and gets to go for walks on the local beach with his new family. He's settling in well and loves the home cooked food.

Ollie

Ollie has found life at his new home on his lifestyle block at bit tiring from time to time. It's just as well he's got a nice spot for a nap.

Ice

Adopted about 12 months ago Ice loves to go on holiday to the snow. If allowed he spends the day on the couch. Ice loves the grandchildren and his food, so much so that he has gained half a kilo recently.

Preta

Adopted in February 2000 Preta has been travelling the world, she has lived in Brazil, Germany and now Ireland. Although getting a little old and grey around the nose the lady is doing well. She has even had a hip replacement so she can still run through the hills.

Acer

Adopted from the animal centre, Acer is doing well. He loves to 'talk' to members of his new family.

Max

Max goes to agility training every week and has just started doing some competitions. In 2007 he is working towards his Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Maverick

Maverick is making the most of his new farm life, but still learning the ropes when it comes to moving the cattle. He is enjoying the good life with the cats and chooks.

Mace

Mace

I've just been adopted by the NZ Police. So when I come out of school, I'll see you out on the streets. I'm going to look handsome in my new uniform!

Lord

Lord was adopted from the animal centre by the NZ Police and now has a successful career in the NZ Police Dog Section.
