'No advertising material please'

Stickers with this message are available through Council's City Strategy Team. A North Shore City and Envision NZ report identified that households with a sticker on their letterbox receive approximately 70% less unwanted advertising than those without one.

From the follow up survey sent to people who requested a Hamilton City Council sticker, it was foundmore than two thirds of the respondents saw a significant reduction of more than 50% of the amount of advertising material they were receiving.

Hamilton Distributors

There are two distributors of commercial circulars in Hamilton as well as subscription newspapers that distribute circulars (tucked in the papers) on behalf of some advertisers.

PMP Distributors distribute a number of catalogues as well as community newspapers.

Residents not wishing to receive circulars can display:

  • no advertising material sticker if the wish to receive only addressed mail, or a
  • no circulars sticker to receive only addressed mail and community newspapers
  • addressed mail only for only mail which is addressed, which will exclude circulars and community newspapers

If commercial circulars are received despite one of the above stickers being displayed then residents are advised to phone the 0800 numbers above, or the distributer for the newspaper or unwanted circular as appropriate.
