We tend to take energy for granted, expecting light or hot water at the flick of a switch. Most people only think about energy once a month when we receive our power bill. In this day and age of power price increases, using less is even more important in order to see a difference in your power bill.
But how many of us understand the realities of energy generation, or know how our demand for energy impacts on how energy is produced and supplied to consumers. Or how our everyday activities affect energy use and our wallets?
By improving energy efficiency in your home you can save money, keep warmer, and improve air quality in our city. There is also funding support through the Energywise Warm Up New Zealand programme. You could receive up to 60% of the cost of insulation, or up to $1200 towards a clean heat system.
Community Services Card holders in Hamilton can also visit WEL Networks to apply for a 'top-up' to the national grant through the Healthier Homes programme.
But there are also lots of small things you can do in your home to save energy and to keep warm. Take a look at some of our links below, and remember a little energy can make a big difference. |
