Council of Elders

Formed in 1993 as an advisory/kaumatua to Hamilton City Council, the Council of Elders is a 15 person team aged over 60 who are elected by Hamilton residents. The Council of Elders meet monthly and regularly work with the Hamilton Mayor, Councillors and Hamilton City Council staff in a range of capacities.  They are a voice for the residents of Hamilton, both young and old, on current issues and future objectives. Their aim is to help shape positive outcomes for the city.

International Day of Older Persons Masked Ball - Saturday1 October 2011

A Masked Ball will be held at the Celebrating Age Centre on Victoria Street to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons. This annual event attracts guests from as far as Matamata and Te Awamutu who attened wearing their masks and finest party wear!

The night begins with a dance at 6:30pm, light refreshments served at 8pm and the last dance at 10pm.

The Masked ball is open to the Celebarating Age Centres user groups including members of organisations based at the centre and older people in the community.

Entry is free but numbers are limited.

Council provides 400 quality affordable units at various complexes throughout the city. The complexes vary in size. All provide a secure and peaceful living environment which are close to shopping centres or bus routes.
