Representing Hamilton youth
Our focus is promoting and representing Hamilton youth in a positive way to make Hamilton more youth friendly.
We meet once a month to discuss ideas, projects and submissions relating to youth. We're really keen to make sure that the youth voice is heard. To do this, representatives from Youth Council regularly attend meetings, visit schools and get involved in all sorts of projects relating to young people.
Our big event for the year has been the Recognyz Youth Awards. This awards night is a fantastic event organised by youth for youth. Each year, Recognyz is an opportunity for young people to really stand out in the crowd and for the city of Hamilton to recognise their achievements! We are not sure if we will be running Recognyz in 2012 - watch this space!
Being able to talk to Council and other committees on young people's behalf is also a major part of Youth Council. We want to make sure that your opinions and views are heard and represented. So if you have any issues, ideas or queries about anything, please feel free to contact us. |
