Kerbside recycling
You can recycle:
Plastics 1 and 2
- You can recycle all plastics numbered 1 and 2 (including milk and soft drink bottles).
- Look for the number on the bottom of the plastic container.
- Remove lids, clean and squash the bottles and place in your recycling crate.
Aluminium and tin cans
- Clean them, squash flat and place steel and aluminium cans, including food cans, beer and soft drink cans in the bin.
- Aluminium foil, plates or trays and paint cans can't be recycled.
Glass bottles and jars
- You can recycle green, brown and clear glass bottles and jars.
- All items need to be clean without lids.
- Broken glass, frosted glass, window glass, blue glass, drinking glasses or cups as well as mirrors, pyrex, light bulbs, ceramics and crystal can't be recycled.
- Place any broken glass into your normal rubbish bag, well wrapped.
- Rinse the recyclable bottles before you put them into the recycling bin.
Paper and cardboard
- If it is not waxed or coated, full colour circulars, magazines, window envelopes and brown corrugated cardboard can also be recycled.
- Paper that has been contaminated with food such as pizza boxes or milk cartons can't be recycled.
- Tie paper in bundles or place in supermarket bags next to your recycling crate.
- Please securely bundle paper and cardboard next to the recycling crate.
Please keep our streets clean and tidy by:
- Not overloading the recycling crate (please squash your cans and plastic).
- Tying paper and cardboard securely.
- Not placing recyclables and refuse at the kerbside before your collection day.

Collection days
Council collects recycling and refuse once a week. Recyclables and refuse should be placed at the kerbside before 8am on the same day of collection. To find collection days in your area, click on the map below.
