Youth Council
We are a voice for young people in Hamilton city.
If you thought that local government was all about 'older adults', think again. Hamilton Youth Council is a way for you to make sure your voice as a young person is heard.
We are a representative group of young leaders between the ages of 15-25 in Hamilton city. We aim to represent the views and interests of young people in the city, to engage youth in local govrenment and democracy and to make Hamilton a better place for young people to live in.
Youth Councils in New Zealand profile young people with a voice to represent their views in the wider community. Youth input allows direct insight into how youth use and perceive the city including the facilities, events and activities it provides. Read our Terms of Reference

Representing Hamilton Youth
Our focus is promoting and representing Hamilton youth in a positive way to make Hamilton more youth friendly.
We meet once a month to discuss ideas, projects and submissions relating to youth. We're really keen to make sure that the youth voice is heard. To do this, representatives from Youth Council regularly attend meetings, visit schools and get involved in all sorts of projects relating to young people.
Our two main annual events are the FYI (For Youth Involvement) Youth Forum and the Recognyz Youth Awards.
Being able to talk to Council and other committees on young people's behalf is also a major part of Youth Council. We want to make sure that your opinions and views are heard and represented. So if you have any issues, ideas or queries about anything, please contact us.
If you would like to have your say in the future of Hamilton, please
email your views and ideas to Youth Council.
We will do our best to voice your concerns at upcoming meetings and include it in the consultation process.
