Become a Member of Youth Council

"Be heard, make changes" is the key message behind Hamilton Youth Council and that's why we're always on the lookout for enthusiastic, energetic and vibrant young people to join our Hamilton Youth Council team.

We advertise for interested youth through schools, community groups and networks throughout Hamilton. We also keep a database of interested youth just in case we need an extra member or two during the year.

Members can belong to the Youth Council for two years or longer if they want to stay on, provided they have a good attendance record.

Recruitment for Youth Council usually takes place around the towards the end of each year.

You need to be aged between 15 and 25, have good youth networks, communication and team skills. Youth Council meets once a month in the evenings and your time commitment would include being able to participate and organise projects and events in the community.

Being part of Youth Council means that you have the opportunity to attend conferences, make submissions to Council, attend public meetings and meet other Youth Councils around the country.
