Governance Statement 2010-13
Introduction to the Governance Statement
The information below makes up Hamilton City Council's Governance Statement and contains information about how Council communicates, works and engages with the city's communities.
Council has to produce a new Governance Statement within six months after each local authority triennial election, as required by the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA).
The purpose of local government as outlined in the LGA 2002, is:
to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of, communities; and
to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of communities, in the present and for the future.
