Council Committees and Meetings 2010-13
Council has four standing committees and a number of subcommittees, advisory panels and working groups which assist us to set policy and guide it in the fulfilment of its responsibilities. In addition, Council representatives are also appointed to joint committees with outside organisations and advisory groups.
The Council and standing committees meet every six weeks. Each standing committee meets three weeks prior to the full Council meeting. Meetings are publicly notified and all meeting agendas and minutes are accessible online. View Agendas & Minutes.
The dates and times for all meetings are advertised in community newspapers, on the Hamilton City Council Facebook page and also on online. View the Meeting Calendar.
All Council and committee meetings are open to the public unless there is a reason to consider some item/s in ‘public excluded’. This means that these items are confidential and members of the public will be asked to leave the room until discussion on the item/s is finished. If you wish to speak at a meeting, you must make prior arrangements with Council. View the public forum information below or contact Democratic Support Services.
Full Council meetings are streamed live from the Chambers web cam. Video's of previous meetings are also available online. View Live Streamed Council Meetings.
Public forums
A period of up to 30 minutes will be set aside for a public forum at the commencement of each Council or committee meeting (including extraordinary) which are open to the public. Each speaker during the public forum section of a meeting may speak for three minutes or longer at the discretion of Her Worship the Mayor or relevant Chairperson.
If you wish to participate in the public forum, please contact Democratic Support Services.
