Council has decided to retain its existing Prostitution Bylaw largely unchanged after undertaking a review required of Council under section 158 of the Local Government Act 2002. Protection of the historically significant vessel the PS Rangiriri received a boost today as the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board announced a $181,000 grant towards the project. The PS Rangiriri was commissioned by the New Zealand colonial government in 1864 for use on the Waikato River during the New Zealand Wars. Hamilton City Council achieved an overall 99 per cent efficiency rating for processing resource consent applications in the Ministry for the Environment’s latest two-yearly survey. Hamilton City Council and the Brian Perry Charitable Trust are partnering in a strategic land agreement which will ultimately see better access to the Waikato River from the southern end of Victoria Street.
