A carved Maori gateway installed at Waikato Stadium will be unveiled at a special ceremony on 3 February. The gateway is a tribute to the former Whatanoa Pa and burial site that was located partly on the ground which is now occupied by Waikato Stadium. Re-surfacing work for the Victoria Bridge has been delayed a day and the bridge will now be closed 7-9 January. The contractor has had to source another milling machine, which is required to take the top layer off the bridge for re-surfacing, when the machine to be hired was damaged on a previous job. Pedestrians and cyclists can still use the bridge during the work.... more...
